Chasing Donkeys

We are too often waiting for miracles to happen but in reality many opportunities come disguised as PROBLEMS.

Chasing donkeys.
Saul’s  father sent him and another young man to go throughout the area looking for donkeys that had strayed off.  Not finding donkeys in any village or  country  Saul  thought they should give up. The the other boy suggested first  they check with the local man of God, Samuel.  God had  already told Samuel  that this man from the tribe of Benjamin, the lowest of the 12 tribes of Israel, would come to him and that  Samuel was to anoint this man as King over all of Israel.

Talk about a journey! You go out to find some donkeys, and you end up king of Israel.
Sometimes though this is what happens in our life with God. We are going along chasing donkeys when God intervenes and we find something else entirely. While we think we are simply out here looking for donkeys, He is looking for us.   God often puts us on a path, simply to lead us to another one. It’s like making a long trip in a car. Sometimes you have to head North for a bit to go West. Or you have to take I-35, only because you need to get to I-44.

You don’t always know what happens, when you are chasing donkeys. Sometimes you may not find the donkeys and return home empty handed. Sometimes you may find the donkeys. Sometimes you might become king, but sometimes, nay, every time your heart is open, you will find the King.

*Michael Dell, a Freshman in college needing to pay for college started buying and selling surplus computer parts. He advertised them in magazines and soon had an $80,000 month! He dropped out of college in April of his Freshman year. This college dropout made 6 million in his first year of business.
*Woman at the Well- She only went to get water which is something she did all the time but she had a life changing experience when she met the Lord there. Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.” 40 So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days. And because of his words many more became believers

We have to discover our purpose in life as we are driven by passion to find the real meaning. We discover our gifts, talents and abilities along the way, however, all of these are already in conception in the mind of God before we were born.

We were always caught up with our daily activities (aka chasing donkeys); and this is when we will slowly approach our interception of opportunity to know our destiny.

When our talents and abilities meet human needs, therein lies our purpose. Therefore obedience is very important because it will lead us to the place of opportunity. Obey, as each step of obedience takes us closer to God’s purpose for us.

Opportunity is not luck or chance; it is Divine Destiny. In Oxford dictionary, the meaning of opportunity is “A favorable or set of circumstances for doing something.” It is a matrix of creativity wanting to serve. However, we are too often waiting for miracles to happen.

Such a saying goes “Chance favors a prepared mind.” We must know how to seize opportunity when it comes. We must act on it. Too often, many opportunities are disguised as PROBLEMS.

Chasing donkeys is simply doing what we can and ought to do, and God will prepare the rest for us to come to the point of opportunity.

Don’t worry about how you will be able to do this…God will open doors elsewhere when people see what you are doing to help the poor.
