“People who are out of work are volunteering to stay connected to their communities and to hone their job skills,”……
I have always loved volunteering as a way to gain experience and On Job Training (OJT) in areas where I might otherwise never had the opportunity to do so. I have found it a wonderful way to meet people from all walks of life that I wouldn’t have gotten to otherwise. Sometimes the people I met have opened doors for me, when I didn’t even ask.
It is great for networking!
To Whom Much is given, much is expected.
Joseph F Bentivegna M.D. wrote a book about the year he spent in Haiti. In the introduction he asks why he was born in America when he could have been a beggar in India, a Cambodian child watching his parents be slaughtered; or a Haitian.
Luke 12:48 From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.
